The Life Burger is an amazing dish. It is 100% vegan and 100% delicious. This filling yet non-heavy burger provides a rich, mouthwatering taste in addition to its wholesome properties. The Life Burger patties can also be stored in the fridge for later consumption. It is be prepared in advance for any occasion.

Life Burger Recipe

This filling yet non-heavy burger provides a rich, mouthwatering taste in addition to its wholesome properties.


  • 5 burger buns (whole grain or gluten free)
  • 400g black beans (boiled)
  • 1 beet (peeled and cooked)
  • 150g buckwheat (boiled)
  • 1 Medium onion (diced)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 125g breadcrumbs (whole grain or gluten free)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons old style dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

For the Salad

  • arugula
  • germinated alfalfa seedlings

Garlic Avocado Sauce

  • 200ml olive oil
  • 1 avocado (peeled and boneless)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 50ml lemon juice
  • pinch salt

Cashew Cheese

  • 1 cup cashews (soaked)
  • dash olive oil
  • pinch garam masala
  • pinch salt


  • It is best to soak the cashews in water the night before.
  • If you don't have garam masala, you can use black pepper instead.


Step 1
Add the boiled black beans into a food processor. Process them without smashing them.
Step 2
Add into a bowl, the boiled buckwheat.
Step 3
Sauté in a frying pan with olive oil, the onion and the garlic. When they have a transparent color, pour the leftover oil into a cup.
Step 4
After, add the vinegar in the same frying pan with the onion and the garlic until all the liquid is gone.
Step 5
Remove the garlic.
Step 6
Add the onion with the blackbeans and the buckwheat.
Step 7
With a grater, grate the beet over a bowl using the wide holes.
Step 8
Mix into the bowl all the seasoning, the olive oil and the bread crumbs.
Step 9
Place the mix in the fridge, and it let rest at least two hours.

Shape the burgers.

You can choose to fry, grill, or bake the burgers.
Step 12
The garlic avocado mayonnaise sauce and cashew cheese are made by mixing all the ingredients mentioned above and emulsifying with a hand blender. The cashew cheese should be refrigerated for better texture.
Step 13
Assemble the burger with our garlic mayonnaise, cashew cheese, arugula and sprouts. In the picture, I also added some sauteed mushrooms.
